Abstract:
To provide an automatic tilting vehicle which reduces a support load of a front wheel, which runs onto a step, by shifting the load in a lateral direction along with a tilt of a vehicle, and has thus the performance of the front wheel's overriding a step improved compared with the conventional one.SOLUTION: An automatic tilting vehicle includes: a pair of front wheels spaced each other in a lateral direction; a vehicle tilting apparatus designed to tilt a vehicle by vertically moving the pair of front wheels in mutually opposite directions with respect to a vehicle body; and a control device. The control device estimates a lateral acceleration of the vehicle, calculates a target tilt angle of the vehicle according to the estimated lateral acceleration of the vehicle, and controls the tilt angle of the vehicle so that the tilt angle becomes equal to the target tilt angle. The vehicle is provided with a step switch that is operated by a driver. When the step switch is turned on, the control device controls the tilt angle of the vehicle so that the tilt angle becomes equal to a predesignated tilt angle according to a steering operation amount given by the driver.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
