Title:
AUXILIARY CHAMBER STRUCTURE OF ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS61252826
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent carbon from being accumulated in a heat insulating space and to improve engine performance, according to the method wherein a heat insulating space is formed between a metallic cylinder and the recessed part of a cylinder head, and the heat insulating space is filled with a moulded product for heat insulation.

CONSTITUTION: A heat insulating space 15 is formed between a metallic ring 7, engaged with the outer peripheral part of a ceramic member 6, with which an auxiliary chamber 5 is formed, and a recessed part 1a of a cylinder head 1, in which the metallic ring 7 is fit, and the heat insulating space 15 is filled with a moulded product 16 for heat insulation. High density seal layers 16a and 16b cause combustion gas, leaking in the heat insulating space 15, to enter the moulded product 16 for heat insulation to exert a gas pressure, and prevent carbon from accumulation. This enables improvement of the degree of heat insulation and engine performance.
