PURPOSE: To improve the reliability and enlargement of a baggage sorting work by providing a storage means having a delivery chute deciding table and a baggage sorting information file, whereby the sorting information is read from a baggage tag, the read information is input to decide the appropriate chute, and the baggage is sent out.

CONSTITUTION: When a baggage 2 is transported by a transport conveyer 1, a bar code reading scanner (sorting information read means) 6 sorts a baggage invoice number, a baggage lot branch number and a delivery city, town, and village code of a tag 2a and sends the baggage 2 to a sorting control means 7. One of chutes 3-1-3-n is decided with reference to a delivery chute deciding table 4, and a control signal is sent to a sorting means 8 so that a guide plate 3a is operated to send out the baggage 2. When one appropriate chute of chutes 3-1-3-n is decided, a sorting control means 7 stores the baggage invoice number, the baggage lot branch number and the delivery city, town and village code number in a baggage sorting information file 5 of the storage means 10.
