PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent biofilm from breeding in filtration means, and also achieve a high-speed flow at on-ballast time.SOLUTION: A ballast water treating device includes a water intake means 10 for taking water to be stored in a ballast tank 30, the filtration means 20 for filtrating the water taken by the water intake means 10, and a washing means 50 for washing the filtration means 20 for regeneration. The washing is performed with the water containing an agent or an active substance supplied from a sterilizing substance supply means 40 during the washing of the filtration means 20 by the washing means 50, and the polluted water after the washing is stored in a polluted water tank 31.
