Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely detect the volume and intensity of light in the balloon member of a balloon catheter. SOLUTION: A first light conductor 9 extending from a proximal end 3 to a distal end 5 comprises a light-absorbing end-section 10 near the proximal end and a light-emitting end-section 11 arranged in a balloon member 6 near the distal end 5 respectively, and further comprises a light-sensitive element situated inside the balloon member 6 and a light sensor having a signal transmitter for guiding a light-independent signal at the proximal end. The light sensor constitutes a second light conductor 15 extending from the proximal end to the distal end, comprising a light-absorbing end-section 17 arranged in the balloon member near the distal end and a light-emitting end-section 18 arranged near the proximal end respectively. The light-absorbing end-section 17 of the second light conductor is proximal to the a light emitting end-section 11 of the first light conductor optically.
