The band saw machine is equipped with the band saw blade 23i circulating and running. By relatively moving a saw blade housing of the band saw machine to approach a workpiece W in the cutting direction while making the band saw blade 23i circulate and run in a state of the band saw blade 23i being supported by a saw blade guide device 25 of the band saw machine, the workpiece W is cut in a cutting region. The wavelength of one cycle of vibration for forcibly vibrating the band saw blade 23i in the band width direction in the cutting region is equal to or smaller than a fourfold of the maximum pitch of a tooth top of each of teeth of the band saw blade 23i, and the amplitude is 0.1-0.5 mm.
