To obtain a bar soap which does not leave behind thin fragments of solid soap on the inner surface of a molding container by compounding a fatty acid soap, a nonionic surfactant, an inorganic salt and a silicone in a specified ratio.
This bar soap is prepared by compounding (A) 20-50 wt.% fatty acid soap, (B) 1-15 wt.% nonionic surfactant, (C) 0.1-5 wt.% inorganic salt and (D) 0.1-5 wt.% silicone. Before poured into a molding container (a mold), the melt is preferably whipped to a vol. fraction of air bubbles of 10% or higher. Preferably, ingredient A contains an alkali metal salt of an 8-22C saturated fatty acid soap, especially a sodium salt, in a content of 80% or higher, still preferably contains at least 25 wt.% lauric acid soap. Ingredient B is preferably a compound having a polyoxyethylene group of which the average number of ethylene oxide units is 6-150. Sodium chloride is preferable as ingredient C. Dimethylsilicone and methylphenylsilicone are preferable as ingredient D.
