To satisfactorily couple a base to a lead in a cold cathode fluorescent discharge lamp.

This base 11 attached to the discharge lamp includes a metal base body 12 having an inside diameter capable of inserting a glass tube 4 of the discharge lamp, lead connecting parts 13, and a connecting member 14. The lead connecting parts 13 are opposedly arranged to interpose the lead mutually therebetween, and comprises the first and second portions 19, 20 extended along an axial direction of the base body and formed to clamp the lead 6, and an intermediate portion 21 for connecting those mutually. The first and second portions 19, 20 and the intermediate portion 21 are not connected mutually in an axial direction of the lead 6. The first and second portions 19, 20 and the intermediate portion 21 are favorably deformed by this manner.
