Abstract:
PURPOSE: To inhibit the metastasis of cancer by administering a benzothiazepine synergist to an organism having the cancer. CONSTITUTION: This method for treating the metastasis of cancer comprises administering a compound of the formula Q is H, a halogen; R is H, a lower alkoxy, a lower haloalkyl, CN, a lower alkyl, a halogen; Y is OY' [R' is H, an alkylacyl (when a perfect saturation between the 2 and 3-carbon atoms in the benzodiazepine nucleus and 2,3-dihydro-functionality at the place exist)]; R" is 2-[di(lower alkyl)amino]ethyl-, 3-(pyrrolidino)propyl, 2-(morpholino)ethyl, etc.}, e.g. 1-cis-5-[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]-2,3-dihydro-3-hydroxy-2-(4- methoxyphenyl)-1,5-benzothiazepine-4(5H)-one acetate (ester), if necessary, together with an anticancer medicine (e.g. anthracycline, vinca alkaloid).
