To provide a biodegradable packaging material, in which a natural moisture proof material having moitureproofness and allowing to be used for the preservation of foodstuff, and a moisture proof biodegradable paper container made of the packaging material.
This packaging material (10) is formed by laminating a paper (11), a moisture proof layer (12), a paper (13) and a sealant layer (14) in the order named under the condition that the paper is employed as a base material. The moisture proof layer (12) is a natural resin containing a polyisopyrene or a biodegradable material made of its derivative or a biodegradable material made of a material formed by mixing the biodegradable material with a material selected from the group consisting of a natural resin with a paper permeability, waxes, their derivatives. The sealant layer (14) is a biodegradable material with oilproofness such as a polyhydroxy butyric acid, a polylactic acid, polylactic acid derivatives, a modified polymeric resin derived from a starch, a shellac resin or the like.
