PURPOSE: To prevent dielectric breakdown due to the occurrence of spark by arranging two or more kinds of contact different in resistivity on a base and bringing contacts into contact with a photosensitive body in the order from the contact having the highest resistivity to raise stepwise the surface potential of the photosensitive body.
CONSTITUTION: High-resistance conductive contacts 11 and low-resistance conductive contacts 12 are blocked into a brush on a conductive base 10 consisting of aluminum or the like slightly apart from each other. Since voltage reduction is large in high-resistance contacts 11 but is small in low-resistance contacts 12, the voltage between front ends 11a of high-resistance conductive contacts 11 and the earth is higher than that between front ends 12a of low-resistance conductive contacts 12 and the earth. Further, since a surface 15a of a photosensitive layer 15 brought into contact with contacts 11 of a low voltage is brought into contact with contacts 12 of a high voltage, the surface potential of a photosensitive body 14, namely, the potential of the surface 15a of the photosensitive layer 15 is raised stepwise.
