To provide a can lid and a method for forming the can lid by which the occurrence of buckling or the like to the can lid can be surely suppressed even if a thin sheet material is used.
The can lid for a cylindrical can container is composed of a center panel 2 occupying the center of the can lid, an internal side wall 5 hung down from the peripheral edge of the center panel 2 via a curved part 4, a curved bottom part 6 outwardly continuous from the internal side wall 5, an external side wall 7 upwardly erected from the outer peripheral side of the curved bottom part 6, a curved face coupling wall, which is cut along in the center axis line direction of the center panel 2 upwardly erected from the upper end part of the external side wall 7 and curved such that the cross sectional shape becomes convex to the center panel 2 side, a chuck wall upwardly erected from the curved face coupling wall, and a seaming panel continuously provided above the chuck wall. Three bent parts a10, b10, and c10 are formed in the internal wall region B at a groove part.
