Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce carbon steel provided with wire drawability and fatigue resistance as the one for a high strength extra-fine steel wire such as a steel code used for an automotive tyre or the like and to provide a method for producing it.
SOLUTION: This carbon steel excellent in wire drawability is the one composed of carbon steel contg., by mass, 0.15 to 1.5% Si, in which the content of solid solution Al obtd. by a secondary ion mass spectrometry is ≤0.001% (excepting 0%), and the content of solid solution Ca is 0.005 to 0.1 ppm. Moreover, as to the method for producing it, Si deoxidized molten steel is refined by using slag in which CaO/SiO2 is 0.6 to 1.0 (by weight) and the content of Al2O3 is 5 to 15%, and, after that, the molten steel is added with Ca of 0.01 to 0.05 kg per ton of the molten steel to secure proper solid solution Ca.
