Abstract:
To provide a cast slab maintaining method which prevents any defect from being caused in a product, by elucidating a new factor affecting the defect of the product after the hot rolling and the cold rolling, and a cast slab.
The cast slab is scarfed so that the thickness of a granular oxide layer of at least one of Al, Ti and Mn in the section of a projecting part on a surface of the cast slab after the scarfing is equal to or less than the thickness of oxide scales to be removed by heating the cast slab before the hot rolling, added 100 m thereto. Occurrence of any scale-like defect in the product is suppressed, and it is effective for increase in yield of the product and shortage of the delivery.
