To provide a wire in which density of a cross section which is suitable to rectification and control when feeding a product wire is distributed.
This wire is composed of a high-density outer peripheral part in which local relative density by spatial and timewise averages is 81%, an ultra-low density part in which the local relative density is 0.01% and the core part of the remainder. While an original wire in which the volume ratio of an ultra-low density part to the whole volume is 60% is fed by a drive unit, the original wire is formed to have a polygonal cross section or a nearly polygonal cross section, and is passed through, once or several times, a block of drawing tools which is composed of a compacting tool for compacting the core part and a crushing tool with which the original wire is worked to have a circular cross section or a nearly circular cross section and also the core part is crushed, and as requested, is passed through a finish-drawing means. Thus, the density is changed so that the average density to a predetermined depth from the surface in the cross section of the wire to be worked is made different in a predetermined portion in the peripheral direction and in the other portion.
