PURPOSE: To form projections having the same shape and direction as the shape and direction of a pattern in one body on the surface of a casting by forming a casting mold with an elastic pattern provided with many independent projections which are inclined or curved in optional directions.

CONSTITUTION: The sand added with a cold curing binder is solidified on the surface of the base 2 of a model 1, whereby a casting mold 5 is formed. The mold 5 is released from the model 1 upon forming of said mold. Molding recesses 6W which are opened in the surface of the molding surface 5a of the mold 5 are formed on the surface 5a in the same shape and same direction as the shape and direction of projctions 3 and since the projections 3W are flexible and elastic materials, the projections curve in the stage of stripping the model 1 and the model can be parted along the inside wall of the recess 6W. A core 7 is disposed apart from the surface 5a of the mold 5 and a casting space is formed by the spacing between the core 7 and the surface 5a and the many recesses 6W sinking inward from the surface. Molten metal 8 is charged into said space, whereby a product is cast.
