To provide a new organometallic compound which has a sufficient catalytic activity and, simultaneously, can obtain (co)polymers of chain olefins or cyclic olefins in a high yield and its preparation method, an olefin polymerization catalyst comprising the organometallic compound, and a method for the (co)polymerization of a chain or cyclic olefin by using the catalyst.
The organometallic compound has a structure to be represented by formula (1), (wherein M is a group 6 transition metal atom; R1 to R14 are each a hydrogen atom, a chain hydrocarbon group, a cyclic hydrocarbon group or the like and may be the same as or different from one another; X is a halogen atom; Y is a divalent chain hydrocarbon or cyclic hydrocarbon; and m is an integer to meet 1≤m≤4). Further, the method for preparing this organometallic compound, the olefin polymerization catalyst comprising this organometallic compound, and the method for the (co)polymerization of a chain or cyclic olefin by using the catalyst are provided.
