To provide a catalyst for purifying an exhaust gas which is capable of improving the purification efficiency of an exhaust gas by effectively utilizing an active component and to provide a manufacturing method thereof.
In the manufacturing method of the catalyst for purifying an exhaust gas, at first a catalyst carrier 5 in which a number of circulation apertures 6 are formed is prepared. Then, when the gas is passed to the circulation direction of a number of the circulation apertures 6, a first area 11 in which the gas flow rate becomes relatively faster and a second area 12 in which the gas flow rate becomes relatively slower are decided on the cross section 53 of the photocatalyst carrier 5. Then, the circulation apertures 6 located within the first area 11 are closed. The catalyst for purifying the exhaust gas is obtained by covering the catalyst carrier 5 with an active component.
