Abstract:

To provide a cationic surfactant which has high biodegradability, low irritativeness to the skins and the mucous membranes, and excellent hydrolysis stability.

This cationic surfactant represented by the general formula (1), and the method for producing the same. Therein, R1is a 1 to 22C aliphatic hydrocarbon group, cyclohexyl or (A-O)n-Y; R2is a 1 to 22C aliphatic hydrocarbon group or (A-O)n-Y; R3is (A-O)n-CO2-R5; R4is H, a 1 to 4C alkyl or benzyl; A is a 2 to 4C alkylene; Y is H or CO2-R5; X is an anionic atom or an anionic group; R5is a 1 to 22C aliphatic hydrocarbon group; (n) is an integer of 1 to 5.
