The cell culture observation apparatus 1 is for continuously observing the change of one or a plurality of cells A on a support 2 or in a solution and is equipped with following devices: the cultivation vessel 10 that receives the cells A and can retain the cell activity; a movable stage for holding the cell culture vessel 10; the photographing part 40 for photographing the cells A as they are separated into the areas corresponding to individual cells and separated cells are individually photographed; and the analyzing part 50 that extracts at least one kind of geometrical or optical features of individual cells in each areas on the basis of the photographic images in each area obtained in the photographing part 40 and the extracted features are analyzed.
