Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic honeycomb structure in which crack due to thermal shock hardly extends to a partition wall even if the thermal shock occurs and which has thermal shock resistance and reliability.
SOLUTION: In the ceramic honeycomb structure, an external wall part having an external surface is formed by filling the recessed groove of a ceramic honeycomb main body in which the recessed groove is opened to the outside and extends in the axial direction. By at least providing a stress releasing part formed in the space part of the surface of the external wall part or between the recessed groove and a member constituting the external wall part, the stress due to the thermal shock is released in the stress releasing part and the crack hardly occurs on the partition wall even if the thermal shock acts in the ceramic honeycomb structure.
