This chargeable vacuum cleaner is provided with a body 21 having a dust collecting chamber 25 for collecting dust, an intake port 27 positioned in front, and an electric blower 22 positioned in the rear; a battery 30 for supplying power to the electric blower 22; and a handle 29 provided at the body 21. In this vacuum cleaner, the center of gravity G of the body 21 is positioned near the central part of the handel 29. Consequently, when holding the front part of the handle 29 from the center of gravity G, the center of gravity G is positioned behind the hand, so that the intake port 27 of the chargeable vacuum cleaner body 21 easily faces upward. When holding the rear part of the center of gravity G, the intake port 27 easily faces downward. The direction of the intake port 27 can thereby be changed according to the held part of the handle 29.
