To provide a charging system and a charging controller that can reduce the power consumption of a system in which an electric power supply device starts processing associated with electric power supply when detecting electric connection with a circuit associated with charging in a vehicle while the other end of a charging cable connected to the electric power supply device is physically connected to a power supply port of the vehicle.
A charging controller 13 determines whether a preset charging start condition is met (step S2) when detecting the charging cable being physically connected to a connection connector of the vehicle (step S1: YES). When it is determined that the charging start condition is not met (step S2: NO), a circuit associated with charging is electrically disconnected (step S3). When it is determined that the charging start condition is met (step S2: YES), the circuit associated with charging is electrically connected (step S5), and the charging processing is started (step S6).
