To prepare a cleansing cosmetic for removing an oily stain, in which aqueous face washing is not essential after cleansing.

This cleansing cosmetic comprises (1) an antimicrobial polyhydric alcohol and (2) an alkyl-modified carboxyvinyl polymer and/or its salt. One or more kinds selected from dipropylene glycol, isoprene glycerol, 1,2-pentanediol, 1,2-hexanediol, 2,4-hexylene glycol and 1,2-octanediol are preferable as the antimicrobial polyhydric alcohol. One or more kinds selected from a (10-30C) alkyl acrylate-methacrylic acid crosslinked copolymer, a stearyl acrylate-methacrylic acid crosslinked copolymer and a (10-30C) alkyl acrylate-acrylic acid copolymer are preferable as the alkyl-modified carboxyvinyl polymer.
