To provide a coating apparatus for obtaining a uniform coating film by stably sending a coating solution in a case that a region low in shearing speed is coated with the coating solution having high viscosity by a gravure coater.

The coating apparatus includes a circular arc-shaped solution receiving pan installed for transferring the coating solution to the gravure roll 12 and concentrically arranged with respect to the gravure roll 12 and a solution injection port 24 for vertically injecting the coating solution with respect to the tangential direction of the gravure roll 12. The solution injection port 24 has a fountain type nozzle shape and the installation place thereof is on the upstream side of the rotary direction of the gravure roll 12.
