Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent divergence of the algorithm.
CONSTITUTION: Digital data recorded on a magnetic tape 1 are reproduced by a magnetic head 2, equalized by an equalization circuit 7 consisting of an FIR transversal filter 5 and an arithmetic operation 21 and a decoder 8 discriminates the logic of the equalized data and outputs the result. The arithmetic operation circuit 21 monitors an odd number order of center tap coefficients in an FIR transversal filter 5 to discriminate whether or not the algorithm used for the filter is divergent and when it is discriminated that the algorithm is divergent, a threshold level TH used for discriminating the logic is revised to a level closer to 0.
