To prevent plate break in a cold tandem rolling mill composed of four or more rolling stands and performing high tension rolling of a metal strip and a rolling method.
The cold tandem rolling mill composed of four or more rolling stands performs high tension rolling of the metal strip by applying to the metal strip, the inlet side and/or outlet side tension of ≥30% of the proof stress of the metal strip in at least one or more rolling stands, wherein the diameter of a work roll in the rolling stand(s) where the high tension rolling is performed is controlled to 150 to 300 mm, and also, a bender apparatus for controlling the deflection in the vertical direction of the work roll is provided. Further, in order to obtain the target tension in the sheet edge part by control with the bender, the tension may be measured with a shape detector, or may be estimated from various rolling factors.
