Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type television picture receiver which is inexpensive and compact by successively displaying images corresponding to red, blue and green colors for a color image and then synthesizing the successively displayed images corresponding to red, blue and green colors.
SOLUTION: As for the display body 1 for an image, a CRT of normal luminance is used. An image is divided into three directions by a half mirror 112 and passed through optical shutters 2, 3. By turning on/off the optical shutters 2, 3, image light corresponding to red, blue and green colors is successively sent to optical amplifying parts 5 to 7. The light from a high pressure halogen lamp 112 is divided into red, blue and green colors by three dichroic mirrors 8 to 10 to irradiate the optical amplifying parts 5 to 7. The incident light through polarizers 14 to 16 to the respective optical amplifying parts 5 to 7 is reflected by the image of a ferroelectric liquid crystal in the optical amplifying parts 5 to 7 formed by the image of the display 1 and then passes through analyzers 17 to 19 and condensed to an optical system 12. Then the light forms a projected image 13 displayed on a screen.
