To provide a color name information acquisition system and its program and method by which a color name can be visually/audibly recognized at site by utilizing portable computer equipment with a camera.
The color name information acquisition system utilizing the portable computer equipment with the camera 13 is provided with point specification means (25, 33) for specifying a point whose color name on a color image displayed on a screen is required to be known, color name searching means (35, 39) for searching the color name of the specified point, and a color name teaching means (41) for teaching the color name by display/voice. When a user photographs a picture by a camera 13, the user can visually recognize the color name of an optional position in the color image via characters by observing the display contents of a display device 18. Consequently, the problem that a user suffers mental pain when the user has difficulty in sensing color, in the case of expressing an observed object, a scene or the like by voice by using a color name like "that light pink ..." because the color cannot be visually discriminated can be solved.
