PURPOSE: To provide the titled apparatus easy in maintenance and control with good image quality, constituted so as to obtain color display through the transfer of a color display original after fabricating said original by forming a color layer onto a plurality of electrodes on a substrate from an electrodepositing polymer solution having a hardly water-soluble pigment dispersed therein by electrodeposition.
CONSTITUTION: In a color printing apparatus, a plurality of fine dot matrix shaped electrodes 2 insulated to each other are fabricated on an insulating substrate 1 and electrode terminals 3 are provided so as to be taken out to the back side of the substrate 1. This electrode substrate 6 is immersed in an electrodepositing polymer solution 4 in which a pigment or dye hardly boluble or insoluble in water is dispersed and the electrode terminals 3 are connected to a power source 8 to apply a voltage pulse and a color layer 9 is selectively formed on the electrodes 7 by electrodeposition. Hereinafter, similar manipulation is performed by using a polymer electrodeposition solution having a pigment or dye having a different color dispersed therein and different color layers 12 are formed to fabricate a color display original and, thereafter, this original is transferred to recording paper to obtain color display.
