To construct a system which can efficiently select desired colors by combining a monitor and a printer well and enables both persons who work at a distance from each other to recognize the color with high precision.
The monitor selects colors roughly and the printer selects colors in detail. To efficiently select desired colors, 1st and 2nd color selection screens are provided and a desired color is selected in the 1st screen over a look at the entire color space and concrete colors of color patch constitution are selected in the 2nd screen. In the 1st and 2nd screens, an array is determined on the basis of a hue, saturation, and lightness as parameters. To correct coloration performance among types of printers, a function of selecting a printer which prints is corrected according to a specific rule.
