In a portable telephone set 100, a main control part 10 and a display control part 20 detect whether an image pickup part 60 is in operation when the image pickup direction of the image pickup part 60 is switched and a power circuit 75 is turned on or off. Then display control is so performed that the physical size in a display of information when the non-operation state is detected is larger than the physical size in a display of the information which should be displayed when the operation state is detected. Since the physical size of the information to be displayed is therefore varied and set according to whether the image pickup part 60 is in operation, the display size of the information to be displayed can easily be set.
