Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To finish a surface to be worked to be a high-accuracy and high- strength flat surface by providing a roughing tool fitted to the peripheral edge of a tool main body, and a burnishing tool for finishing arranged on the end face of the radial inner periphery of the tool main body. SOLUTION: A work piece 12 is first cut by a throw-away chip 6, and subsequently burnished by a burnishing ball 7. That is, roughing by a cutting blade and burnishing for finishing can be performed through one-pass. In burnishing, the burnishing ball 7 is pressed to the surface of the work piece 12 and slid to crush the small projecting parts on the surface and fill the recessed parts, thereby smoothing the surface. Thus, the surface can be smoothed by a little plastic deformation of the surface layer, and simultaneously the hardness is increased to remain the compressive force and improve fatigue strength and wear resistance.
