Title:
COMBUSTION CONDITION DETECTING DEVICE FOR GASOLINE ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2525979
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To purify exhaust by detecting density of an ion current, flowing in a spark plug, to perform operation in a condition approximate to a limit of stable operation.
CONSTITUTION: A primary circuit 11 of an ignition coil 1 is connected to a primary current interrupting means 4. A secondary circuit 12 is connected to spark plugs 3 through a distributor 2. The primary current interrupting means 4 concurrently serves for a generating means of ion current detection. In a limit operation condition of a lean limit of air-fuel ratio or a limit of an exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) amount, the nearer density of an ion current, flowing in the spark plug, approaches the limit the larger unevenness increases. A level of this unevenness is measured, and the limit of stable operation is detected from this level to control the air-fuel ratio or the EGR amount so as to approach the limit capable of performing stable operation. Thus, purification of exhaust and improvement of fuel consumption are contrived.
