Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Wankel type rotary engine that can solve problems of hindering rotation of a rotor.SOLUTION: Inside of a rotor housing 1 is partitioned into an intake chamber 1A, a combustion chamber 1B and an exhaust chamber 1C by a rotor 2. When a chamber surrounded by a first rotor peripheral side surface 2A and an inner wall surface of the rotor housing opposing to the first rotor peripheral side surface is used as the combustion chamber, a chamber surrounded by a second rotor peripheral side surface 2B and the inner wall surface of the rotor housing opposing to the second rotor peripheral side surface is used as the intake chamber and a chamber surrounded by a third rotor peripheral side surface 2C and the inner wall surface of the rotor housing opposing to the third rotor peripheral side surface is used as the exhaust chamber, the combustion chamber is partitioned into a combustion gas chamber in which a first recess 2A1 is located and an unburned gas chamber 1A2 via a clearance S between the first rotor peripheral side surface and the inner wall surface of the rotor housing. Combustion is performed in the combustion chamber and unburned gas in the unburned gas chamber is returned to the intake chamber through a return passage B.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
