Abstract:

To construct a means for enabling data transfer even when an external device is not compatible with a file format being used for a recording medium, in transferring data from the recording medium to the external device.

In a communication apparatus including: an information acquiring means for acquiring, from a recording medium loaded, information about the recording medium; a selection means for selecting a communication method to be used for communication with an external device in accordance with the information obtained by the information acquiring means; and a communication means for communicating with the external device using the communication method selected by the selection means. A communication protocol to be used for communication is switched in accordance with the information acquired from the recording medium, and data are transferred to the external device.
