To provide a novel commutator wherein the circularity of commutator pieces arranged at equal intervals around a holder is enhanced and the commutator pieces are prevented from coming off so that sufficient strength can be delivered even in a severe impact test.
The commutator 1 is formed by arranging the multiple commutator pieces 3 at an appropriate space S in-between along the circumferential portion of the holder 2. The holder 2 includes a cylindrical boss portion 21 and a flange portion 22. Each of the commutator pieces 3 includes a bent plate-like commutator portion 31 and a terminal portion 32. In one direction, the commutator pieces 3 are prevented from coming off by abutting the terminal portions 32 against the flange portion 22. In the opposite direction, the commutator pieces 3 are prevented from coming off by catch structures 5 formed by deforming at least either of the boss portions 21 and the commutator portions 31. Thus, the axial movement of the commutator pieces 3 is arrested in both the directions.
