PURPOSE: To obtain a complex fiber sheet capable of assuming a nonuniform pattern by nonuniformly fuzzing the side of vegetable fibers of a complex sheetlike material containing the vegetable fibers and water-shrinkable fibers and shrinking the water-shrinkable fibers with water.
CONSTITUTION: This complex fiber sheetlike material is obtained by applying a composition liquid of vegetable fibers, e.g. paper mulberry, hemp or pulp containing a synthetic paste to woven fabric or nonwoven fabric comprising fibers having great water shrinkability (e.g. rayon yarn) as a substrate according to the spraying, etc., providing a complex fiber sheetlike material, drawing the resultant sheet in the width direction, then carrying out the polymer finishing from the side of the vegetable fibers (e.g. with a self-cross-linking type acrylic acid ester-based adhesive), subsequently performing the rubbing or sanding processing, then dipping the resultant fabric in a heating or a dye liquor, subsequently applying an external force such as a rocking or a twisting force with, e.g. a clamping machine, shrinking and softening the fabric, fuzzing the side of the vegetable fibers and dyeing the resultant fabric with a direct dye. The obtained complex sheetlike material assumes a nonuniform pattern.
