Title:
COMPOSITE BODY MADE OF GRAPHITE AND HIGH-MELTING METAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03215378
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To increase the service life of the composite body comprising a high melting point metal to form the carbide, the graphite, and a plurality of intermediate layers, by forming a first layer which is adjacent to the graphite with the metallic composition forming no carbide.

CONSTITUTION: A composite body consists of graphite, the high melting point metal (tungsten, tantalum, hafnium, niobium) to form the carbide, and a plurality of intermediate layers, and a first layer of the intermediate layers which is adjacent to the graphite is formed of the metal (rhenium, platinum) forming no carbide, or its alloy. A plurality of double layers are arranged continuous to the first layer. The double layers are formed of the layer of the metal forming the carbide or single or mixed carbide, and the layer of the metal (alloy) forming no carbide.
