Abstract:
To provide composite part resin infusion with dynamic thickness control.SOLUTION: There is provided a system and method for manufacturing a composite part. One embodiment is a method for manufacturing a composite part. The method includes the steps of providing a preform on a tool mandrel, placing a sensor around the preform according to a target shape of the composite part, and sealing the preform with a vacuum bag to form a chamber. The method also includes the steps of applying temperature and pressure to the chamber to inject the resin into the preform for the purpose of forming the injected composite preform, monitoring the thickness of the composite preform prior to completing the curing, and adjusting at least one of the temperature and pressure based on the thickness prior to completing the curing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
