Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a composition for treating a nail enabling both the treatment of the nail for preventing the embrittlement and softening of the nail and treatment of the epidermis for facilitating the removal of the epidermis.
CONSTITUTION: This composition is obtained by introducing (B) an amino acid, selected from methionine, cysteine, S-carboxymethylcysteine and derivatives thereof and having sulfur atom in an amount of preferably 0.5-5 wt.% based on the total weight of the composition together with (A) sodium tetraborate in an amount of preferably 0.5-5 wt.% based on the whole composition at 2-0.5, especially 1-0.5 weight ratio weight ratio of the components A:B into an aqueous or a water-alcohol (preferably a 1-3C monohydric alcohol) medium containing the alcohol in an amount of preferably 0-35 wt.% based on the aqueous medium. Furthermore, (C) a water-soluble cosmetically and/or a pharmaceutically active component, e.g. a polyhydric alcohol or (D) a cosmetically and/or pharmaceutically acceptable auxiliary agent, e.g. an excipient can be formulated with the composition.
