Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a contact lens having high oxygen permeability and excellent dynamic characteristics such as shock resistance by using a polymer contg. a specified maleimide deriv. as a polymerizable component. CONSTITUTION:This contact lens is made of a polymer contg. a maleimide deriv. represented by the formula as a copolymerizable component. In the formula, R<1> is H or methyl, R<2> is H, straight chain or branched alkyl, preferably 2-30C alkyl or aryl and R<2> is preferably alkyl or aryl having substd. organosiloxane and/or F. Since the maleimide deriv. has an imido group as an acidic group and a rigid 5-membered ring and a substituent on N can be modified, excellent characteristics are obtd.
