Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contaminated soil decontamination method which can efficiently decontaminate high moisture content soil contaminated with harmful substances, such as dioxins and PCBs.
SOLUTION: (1) The contaminated soil decontamination method is a method for decontaminating the high moisture content soil containing the harmful substances, and comprises a flocculation process for flocculating the high moisture content soil by a flocculant to obtain flocculated soil which incorporates the harmful substances, a water separation process for separating and removing water contained in the flocculated soil, and a harmful substance extraction process for removing the harmful substances from the flocculated soil from which water has been separated, by solvent extraction. (2) The moisture content of the flocculated soil is reduced to 5-100% in the water separation process. (3) The flocculated soil from which water has been separated in the water separation process is processed into flakes having a thickness of 0.1-15 mm.
