PURPOSE: To connect the terminal edge part of a preceding fiber bundle and the top edge of a succeeding fiber bundle by dividing one or the both of the edge parts into two parts or more and braiding the both edge parts.

CONSTITUTION: Each of the terminal edge part of a pitch fiber bundle wound onto a preceding bobbin before nonfused treatment process and the top edge part of the pitch fiber bundle wound onto the succeeding bobbin is ravelled by 2m, and divided into two parts, and got entangled with the terminal edge part of the preceding fiber bundle, and joined, and then the jointed pitch fiber bundle is nonfusing-treated in a nonfused treatment furnace, and then carbonization-treated in a carbonizing furnace. Therefore, carbon fiber can be manufactured continuously without generating cutting of fiber and fusion.
