PURPOSE: To improve drawing stability and the surface condition of a coating layer by regulating the static pressure of molten steel in such a way that the bridge of molten steel is formed in the spacing part between a nozzle for upward ejection of molten steel, and cooling rolls which solidifies the molten steel in one body to a core material.
CONSTITUTION: When the level L of the molten steel 1 in a molten metal receiving part 4A exceeds the position of the opening end 4D of a nozzle 4B, the molten steel 1 ejects upward through the nozzle 4B, and contacts the surfaces of cooling rolls 8, 8. If at this time the surface tension of the molten steel 1 in the opening end 4D, and the spacing part 10 between the rolls 8, 8' is larger than the force by the static pressure of the molten steel there, the bridge 1' of the molten steel is formed in the part 10. While this is formed, the molten steel is ejected between the rolls 8, 8' and at the same time a core material 5 passes the center of the nozzle 4B, and travels between the rolls 8, 8' perpendicularly upward. A solidified layer 11 of the molten steel grows and arrives at the surface of the material 5 where it is rolled, whereby the clad steel plate 13 formed with a coating layer 12 of prescribed thickness is obtained.
