Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enhance the stability and responsiveness of hydraulic pressure in a control device for a continuously variable transmission by detecting a current energizing an actuator such as a hydraulic control solenoid or the like in a short period in comparison with that of a shift instruction value.

CONSTITUTION: The drive force of an engine 2 is transmitted to drive wheels through the intermediary of a torque converter 3, an input pulley 4 of a belt type continuously variable transmission, a metal belt 6 and an output pulley 5. In this case, a control unit 1 estimates an input torque in accordance with detection signals from an engine rotational speed sensor 11, an input rotational speed sensor 12 and a throttle sensor 10. Further, the control unit 1 computes a required line pressure in accordance with an actual gear ratio which is obtained in accordance with thus computed input torque, and detection signals from the input rotational speed 12 and an output rotational speed sensor 13. Further, it controls a line pressure solenoid 8 in order to obtain the required line pressure. Further, the detection of a current energizing the line pressure solenoid 8 or the like is carried out in a short period in comparison with a period of an instruction value.
