This control device controls an engine 1 as a driving source of the work machine 100, and has a work mode storage means 41 for storing a plurality of work modes of presetting a target engine speed of the engine corresponding to the work content, a mode selecting means 20 for selecting any one of the plurality of work modes stored in the work mode storage means 41, a change control means 40 for restricting or permitting a change in selection in the mode selecting means 20 on the basis of predetermined operation, and an engine speed control means 42 for controlling an engine speed of the engine in the target engine speed of the work mode selected by the mode selecting means 20.
