To improve cooling performance in an operation region or the like of high load and low rotation speed to appropriately suppress overheat of an internal combustion engine.
Correction control for more increasing a speed reduction ratio of an automatic transmission is performed in a case where cooling water temperature of the internal combustion engine is a predetermined threshold value or higher compared with another case where it is not. The higher the cooling water temperature, the larger an increase correction amount of the speed reduction ratio in the correction control is set in a range not exceeding a guard value. In other words, at the high load and low rotation, an engine speed is raised to increase a discharge amount of cooling water due to a mechanical water pump by positively making the transmission operate at a lower gear region or the like.
