Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make the selection of a tool smooth, by moving the selected tool to its starting point of machining after a tool post has been retreated once in a Z axis direction at the time of an exchange of a tool by processing a work making use of the tools more than one provided in chase on one surface of the tool post.

CONSTITUTION: When a work WK having a material shape as shown by a dotted line is machined in the shape of parts as shown by a full line, parts P1W P5 of the shape of the parts are machined roughly in a first quadrant by a roughing tool TL1, to begin with. Then after completion of this rough machining finish machining of the parts P1WP5 of the shape of the parts is done by a finishing tool TL2 in a fourth quadrant. In this instance, the tool post TBS is moved to a position Pr in a Z axis direction where tools TL1 and TL2 do not touch the work through movement of the tool post TBS in an X axis direction, then finish machining is made to perform after movement of the tool post TBS in the X axis direction until an X axis position of the tool TL2 coincides with X coordinates of a starting position P6 of machining.
