In this control method of the cooling device 10 having a refrigerant circuit to allow the refrigerant to successively circulate a compressor 10, a condenser 11, a throttle device 12 and an evaporator 13, and used in the refrigerating storage, the cooling device further comprises an inside air temperature sensor 1 for measuring a temperature of the air inside of the refrigerating storage, and an evaporator outlet temperature sensor 2 for measuring a refrigerant temperature of an evaporator outlet, and the presence or absence of the refrigerant leakage in the refrigerant circuit is determined on the basis of the comparison of difference between a measured value of the inside air temperature sensor 1 and a measured value of the evaporator outlet temperature sensor 2, with a predetermined determination reference value X.
